GMBHA's Sustainable Hospitality Council was created to provide member hotels with the knowledge they need to cost-effectively green their operations and collectively reduce the hotel industry's regional carbon footprint. Our Council's members represent the hotel, architecture, education, not-for-profit and government sectors. The Council promotes awareness and adoption of green operating practices by providing guidance, expertise and resources to members seeking to improve their daily operations and bottom line. Sustainable operating practices increase energy efficiency, conserve water, decrease waste and promote human and environmental health while decreasing hotel operational costs. The Council also works to increase the visibility of green operating practices in member hotels to the US and international tourism marketplace to further our region's status as a green tourism destination.
